Soon after the beginning of confinement in North America, the edutainment and music app Mazaam was selected by the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec for its “Open School” platform. Since then, the Florida Department of Education, the Washington State Library, the New Brunswick Public Library Service, the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries have joined the ranks of the public institutions that recommend Mazaam to their schools and users. Orchestras such as the Houston Symphony and the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra have also suggested Mazaam to their communities. Talks with other institutions are currently underway.
Mazaam has seen a substantial increase in its popularity in Canada and the United States at a time when parents are turning en masse to digital educational content, particularly those that promote the development of cognitive skills and the musical awakening of young children.
In the current context, where many parents of young children between 4 and 6 years old must reconcile working from home and taking care of their children, Mazaam helps alleviate this challenge by offering full and free access to its mobile app on iOS (and at a price of CA$0.99 on Android, the regular price is CA$6.99) until June 30, 2020.

Given the high demand for digital educational resources, both at school and at home, Mazaam continues its technological developments to facilitate the discovery of the benefits of music and the communication of emotions in children. The Spanish language will also be integrated into the application this fall.
The mission of Mazaam: initiate young children to the benefits of music
Mazaam is a one-of-a-kind application that supports children’s cognitive development by using classical music!
The Mazaam app, developed by Analekta, the foremost classical music label in Canada, is based on the research and the work of the Canada Research Chair in Music and Learning, spearheaded by professor Jonathan Bolduc. “On the educational level, nothing was left to chance” Professor Bolduc stated. “The application supports preschoolers’ musical development through age‑appropriate challenges”.
“Mazaam contains only authentic recordings— there’s absolutely no synthetic music—, making it a complete and beneficial musical experience, and ideal for introducing children to music. Mazaam is a lifelong gift” said the internationally acclaimed violinist Angèle Dubeau, spokesperson for the project.
Mazaam is a lifelong gift! An educational app that spreads and shares classical music with young children
Mazaam includes recordings of artists such as the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Violons du Roy, Angèle Dubeau, Charles Richard-Hamelin and Janina Fialkowska.
